GCSE orals preparation

 Bonjour aux year 11 . As you know your speaking exam  will be taking place on the 31st of March  1st and 3rd of April with a twilight session on Tuesday 25th from 3 till 5pm to help you in your final preparation.
It is essential that you allocate a reasonable amount of time each day to intensively prepare for this exam which represent 25% of your overall grade.   What do you need to do ?
Role play : test yourself or get your parents, brothers or sisters to test you on role play phrases. Build your confidence in asking questions in French as you will certainly need to ask questions for role play B and C.
You have been given a booklet to help you practising the more challenging role play C.You will be able to see what type of role play are frequently used and what headings regularly come up ( achats / visites  ? / activités ? / horaires ? ), you will practise in class but again get someone at home to act as the examiner. Whenever possible look for ways to expand your answers for role play C in order to get maximum mark.
1 minute speech : learn it! time yourself and make sure it is 1minute long.  Get the languages teachers to have a look at it ,if you haven't done so already,  to check if it is good but also to help you with the pronunciation ( use the following website to help you with the pronunciation of the words you are not too sure about : http://voicech.ifrance.com/ ).  I will be asking you some questions on your speech and on the topic in general, be prepared.
The second conversation : You will be asked questions  on one other topic (different from your speech) and you have been given a range of questions and model answers at foundation and higher level to prepare for this. the topics are : House, home and daily routine / At home and abroad / Education work and employment / Media entertainment and youth culture / Social activities fitness and health. I have prepared some podcasts, do use them !
For any topics , you will be given the opportunity to use past, present and future , to develop your ideas and to justify your opinions ( use the speaking checklist I have given you). Again look for opportunities to practise these questions and answers with a friend or family member.
Family and friends can play a bit part in helping you to achieve a good grade in this exam but at the end of the day it is down to you. I believe everyone could achieve their best. Bon courage!  Miss
